LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
COUNSELING STYLECarolyn works with her clients from an integrative approach using skills and techniques from different theoretical orientations. Her ability to identify thought and behavior patterns that may be creating distress, stress, and relationship difficulties allow her to educate clients to create the change they are searching for. She also enjoys using experiential techniques, which are more action based techniques utilizing some form of creative process, self expression, or action to help her clients overcome their struggles. Art techniques, use of music, writing, walk/talk therapy, creative arts, collage work, sand tray work, mindfulness, meditation, and role play are just a few examples of some of the experimental techniques you may experience during her sessions. With a background in trauma and PTSD, Carolyn enjoys working with clients in group settings along with individual therapy.
"I find that group work is vital to healing from trauma especially prolonged and repeated trauma in childhood. Most trauma occurs in and through some type of relationship and from my work experience with clients this is where the healing of trauma takes places through human connection and safe trusted relationships." - Carolyn
